Equix is a privately held construction firm that develops companies and professionals in the technical and construction services industries across the country.  Equix performs a variety of utility and infrastructure projects offering full-service, construction, and maintenance services, electric, oil and gas, heavy civil, pipeline, water and wastewater markets. We have a current opening for a Senior Financial Analyst to support our organization in making informed financial decisions.

 

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a critical role in delivering financial insights that drive informed decision-making across our organization. This position will lead the reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc reports to support our business unit leaders. In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst will use data analytics to provide strategic recommendations to promote growth, improve efficiency, and assist with the monthly close processes. This position will develop reporting processes in areas such as job cost, labor tracking, revenue, and profit recognition, customer profitability, and multi-year 3-piece financial statement modeling. They will work closely with our business unit leadership, to help align financial planning with the organization's overall goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manipulate flexible models to evaluate the financial impact of various business initiatives under a range of assumptions and scenarios.
  • Analyze contract terms, manage change orders, and track project costs and revenues.
  • Respond to inquiries from managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests, resolving issues, as necessary.
  • Partner with operations for margin enhancement initiatives and assist project teams with financial guidance.
  • Ability to work with precision and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Work with the accounting team to meet month-end close deadlines.
  • Collaborate with managers throughout the company to support initiatives and goals.
  • Forecast quarterly and annual profits, revenue, and expenses, providing insight and highlighting risks with potential impacts on financial performance.
  • Track KPIs and prepare financial reports for leadership presentation and review.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Financial Analysis & Planning and the executive team on long-term financial planning goals, cash needs and other financial obligations.
  • Review accounting transactions for data accuracy and financial reporting integrity.
  • Prepare and present clear and concise financial reports to senior management, offering insights into financial trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting, presentations, and financial documentation reports using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 5 or more years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and modeling.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are critical along with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Detail orientation, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and a desire to learn the business will drive success in this role.
  • Ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience.
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting for large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to meet deadlines.
  • Process-oriented to  manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment maintaining accuracy of data.
  • Effective communication skills will be essential along with the ability to perform in a high-pressure environment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with an ability to create actionable reports from data.
  • Experience working with Viewpoint Vista ERP or related financial systems and/or construction accounting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and construction financial practices is preferred but not required.
  • Team player with the ability to work cross-functionally in a matrixed reporting environment.
  • Ability to travel to our various offices with occasional overnight travel.
  • Professionally handle sensitive and confidential information.
